I am not a religious person, but the edifices of the various religions - the cathedrals, churches, abbeys, mosques, temples, pagan circles - I do find stirring. I was born in Coventry, England, a city whose mediaeval cathedral was destroyed during the blitz of World War II, and was replaced in the 1960's by a modern version. I have taken a number of photographs of the great gothic cathedrals on my travels, but the images in this gallery are of simpler structures - small country churches which, despite their simplicity, can be inspiring in their own way.
